Sustainably reorganising households.

• Modern western capitalist society produces an abundance of commodities. Through consumerism, these end up in people’s domestic environment. The show exposes this, uncovers the reasons behind it and the problems it creates. ' Je huis op Orde', is helping families to declutter and sustainably reorganise their households. The Dutch TV program is presented by Viktor Brand and a team of experts. This team includes Eefje Sedee as an organizer, Quirine Molhuysen as a caretaker of the interior and myself as a designer & carpenter. It is truly wonderful to contribute to sustainable makeovers and help people to change their lives.

• Families sign up when their household is so disorganized, they feel they cannot find a solution anymore. With the production team of IDTV their homes are completely redesigned. Due to the rapid recordings of these reorganisations, I pick one project per household to totally design and build. Subsequently the houses are emptied all the family’s belongings are moved to a warehouse and categorically spread out. Accompanied by the organiser, the owners are going to sort out their belongings. The aspiration is to donate, sell and recycle half of their possessions.

  Simultaneously I am building my designs for sustainable furniture, interiors or canopies which contribute to an organized home. Most often I am upcycling old pieces of furniture. Although in some houses there is not enough existing furniture or it cannot be reused for purpose, in a sustainable manner. In these cases, I will use second hand building materials. Behind the scenes there is a team of carpenters which will transform the rest of house. Last but not least: The house is refurbished, in an organised manner, with the family’s chosen possessions.
