This house required a significant reshuffle. With three kids and busy lives, the two youngest were outgrowing their bedroom. The old attic, which had served as the dad's home office, was transformed into a new bedroom for the children. In turn, the parents established a shared office space. This initiated a complete reorganization, with everyone moving into new rooms and rearranging existing furniture to fit the new context.
In addition to the reshuffle, we crafted a table and shelf using local wood. In the Netherlands, a recent elm tree die-off caused by a particular invasive beetle resulted in an abundance of elm wood, perfect for creating beautiful furniture.
The table features an elm top supported by reconstructed legs made from reused wood found throughout the house. The shelf is hung from the wall, optimizing material use by utilizing tension for support, and is secured with old leather belts for a distinctive touch.
