  • The woman of the house was struck by cancer and became seriously ill, which affected the entire family and left their home unfinished and disorganized. It was time for us to provide this family with a positive makeover.

  • In this episode, I contributed to the design, construction, and presentation of the entire house as always. Additionally, I constructed two pieces of furniture using leftover materials, adding extra functionality to the space.

  • I crafted a coffee table from elm and applied a special Japanese wood treatment known as sui sugi ban, which involves burning the top layer of the wood. Often utilized in architecture, this technique can also be applied indoors. By burning the wood, we remove the excess and create a blackened layer that provides sustainable protection.

  • Upstairs, I designed a sofa bed for the family's little boy, allowing him a comfortable space to relax and the option to host friends for sleepovers. The sofa was made from old leftover wooden elements, and old fitness cushions were repurposed as the backrest in a pleasing shade of blue that complements the existing rug. To finish it off, I added a cozy 100% Dutch wool blanket.
