The Multi Multi Cabinet is meticulously crafted from reclaimed 12mm multiplex, originally cut to dimensions of 450 x 1200 mm. Recognizing the challenge of working with smaller pieces, I reassembled the multiplex into larger sections of multi-multiplex, effectively repurposing what would have been waste and contributing to sustainable design practices.

This cabinet was created for a discerning private client who appreciates craftsmanship and the art of woodworking. The project allowed for a focus on detail, transforming waste wood with its inherent imperfections into a visually stunning piece. The goal was to create a cabinet so refined that its origins would be nearly unrecognizable smooth, bright, and polished.

Dimensions of the cabinet were carefully chosen, standing at 200 cm high, 90 cm wide, and 39 cm deep, tailored to accommodate the client's crockery collection. The design features transparent glass doors in the upper section and integrated cutlery drawers with dividers in the lower section. The cabinet's composition includes two 90 x 90 cm blocks with glass doors, separated by drawers and an elegant 15 cm base.

The glass doors and drawers are seamlessly integrated into the cabinet's outer layer, providing a sleek aesthetic. The drawers utilize reused sliding rails for functionality, while the cabinet's height creates an airy feel and makes cleaning effortless. The interior shelves are adjustable, thanks to a durable iron pin system, allowing for customizable storage.

Constructed from recycled strips of multiplex, the door panels feature a single glaze kit. The handles are ingeniously cut out from the doors and drawers, promoting a clean look while minimizing material use. The door mechanisms include a soft-closing feature lined with felt, ensuring a gentle and quiet closure.

The Monolith Cabinet combines multiple layers of multiplex, glued together to create robust sections. With a total thickness of 24mm -except for the 12mm back panel- the structure is designed for durability, ensuring it will last for generations and become a cherished heirloom.
