Happy Spatula was born from a passion for utilizing high-quality waste wood from various projects. Often, wood becomes too small for traditional uses without requiring excessive glue or resulting in endless storage challenges. Yet, this wood is beautiful -a tree has spent decades growing to produce it. Significant energy, manpower, and machinery are involved in harvesting, transporting, and processing it. Each piece of wood undergoes a year of drying for every inch of thickness, followed by cutting, planning, and sanding to create a fine product. Given this extensive effort, every piece deserves to be cherished as a testament to the energy invested in its journey.

From these smaller pieces, I began crafting cooking spatulas, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. With each one I create, I find another home for it. For the first time, I've produced a series of 29 pieces. In addition to the more intricate organic shapes, I've also started experimenting with triangular designs. Each spatula is handcrafted, which is time-consuming, but I aim to make my products more accessible to everyone, including those who may not afford the more expensive options, while also ensuring the sustainability of my endeavors. I envision building a collection of products infused with the love and passion I have for both the world and its materials.

By cooking with this product, you contribute to a stable climate on Earth, as greenhouse gases are stored in the wood. Additionally, you support my mission to enhance and beautify life for all.

This item is handcrafted from sustainably sourced waste wood, with leftover materials being reused to prevent waste. Transportation is carried out utilizing wind and solar energy, minimizing our negative impact on the environment and maximizing positive outcomes. The wood is treated with food-safe mineral oil, ensuring its longevity and aesthetic appeal. Each engraving is meticulously hand-burned into the wood, and due to the natural grain, may not appear perfectly straight. If this aspect concerns you, consider whether it is the pursuit of perfection and the acceptance of perfect imperfection that truly lead us to fulfilling lives, rather than an unattainable ideal.

The packaging material is sourced from sustainably managed forests and doubles as an instruction manual and certificate of authenticity, promoting resource conservation. If it tears during opening, you've learned a valuable lesson: all materials hold significant value, so please handle them with care. Rest assured, if you tape it neatly, the certificate will remain valid. This certifies that Florian Nelemans Atelier, located in BlueCity Rotterdam, is the manufacturer, identifiable by the logo burned above.
