• Even though sustainability is at the public agenda for about half a century, mankind is still at the beginning of the transformation towards a circular economy. So far humanity also has to deal with their waste and we could just do something with it. Cardboard tubes where initially textiles were rolled onto are worthless to many. Even though it is still rather strong and clean. Therefor this is start of a material driven design for the side table.

• The principal form follows force, like in nature. Within the biological structure of the chassis shape and contra shape are emphasized by LED lighting. The parametric character would impose digital fabrication, although it is made by hand. Modern society has become obsessed with the ideal, although transience is inevitable. Hence the need for an aesthetic where flaws can occur and blend in. The manual manufacturing process and the use of materials without additives creates the "perfect imperfection". Perhaps a products lifetime could be prolonged with this perspective on design.
